So I'm on a Continent

And let me tell you, when you've lived on an island for almost two years that's pretty exciting news. I barely remember the last time I've been on a decent sized land mass for more than a couple weeks. Even more exciting news, I'm in Lithuania! As many of you know, I was accepted by the ILP program and for the next sixteen weeks this is where I'll be living as I teach English to young Lithuanian children. Getting here all happened very quickly and took a lot of fundraising. I'm so excited to be given this opportunity and only through the help of others was it made possible. Now I'm here and it's awesome!

Thus, the purpose of this blog is to chronicle my adventures on the European continent for the next few months. Before I left however, I decided there was one thing I wanted from my beautiful island of Oahu. And that was an ukulele. After my finals, I swung by the PCC and bought one as my Easter present from my parents. And I love it! So I came to Lithuania armed with two suitcases, one full of crayons and other teaching supplies, and my ukulele. I'm not very good at it yet, but it's one thing I hope to work on in my spare time here, hence the title of this blog. I guess it's my attempt to find my niche in the huge expanse of the world wide web: a haole/mormon girl who lives in Hawaii in Lithuania learning to play the ukulele as well as speaking Russian as she teaches English. I mean, who else can lay claim to that?!

On another note, I have tales to tell already but unfortunately not the time to recount them now. I actually very much apologize for the speed and the thereafter quality in which this post is composed. It's about 10:30 here at night and I have my first full day of teaching tomorrow. It's been a long day but a fairly productive one, and I'm very excited for this blog and sharing my experiences with whoever cares to read this. Love you all!
